Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry lands in hot waters

ISLAMABAD – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a notice to information minister Fawad Hussain Chaudhry to appear before it on October 27 to explain his darogatory remarks against ECP and the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).

Sources told that Information Minister had been given three weeks to explain his position against the ECP and the CEC, which expired on last week.

The Election Commission received a fresh application from Fawad Chaudhry seeking three more weeks to submit a reply, but the Election Commission has declined to allow more time to him and has summoned him to appear before it on October 27.

According to Notice ECP has directed to Fawad Ch appeared in-person or through Counsel on october 27 if fail to appear, ECP will start contempt of commission proceedings.

The Commission has already issued a show-cause notice to Federal Minister for Railways and PTI leader Azam Swati, requiring him to appear in person before it on October 26 to explain his tirade against the Commission and the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).

The notices giving a week’s time to the two ministers asking them to provide evidence of the allegations levelled against the ECP and the CEC had been issued on September 16.
