US cannot establish peace in Afghanistan without Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal claimed on Thursday that the US could not establish peace in Afghanistan without Pakistan’s help.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, the interior minister said that negotiations were going on with the US for improvement of bilateral relations. He added that talks for peace in Afghanistan were also underway.

Iqbal said that peace in Afghanistan was important for stability in Pakistan. He added that not only peace but several other things are also required to do in Afghanistan.

He said that the Pak-US cooperation was vital for the regional peace and stability. The minister called on the regional countries to unite for maintaining peace in Afghanistan.

He said that Pakistan is committed to not allowing its soil to be used for violence against any other country. I hope that the other countries would also not allow their soil to be used against Islamabad, he maintained.

He said that India had been using the ongoing Afghan civil war against Pakistan.
