LAHORE, (APP): Resolution passed in PA condemning US drone attack

 

Punjab Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution condemning US drone attack violating national sovereignty.

 

After necessary amendments, the resolution was moved by Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed.

 

The resolution said that foreign office should summon the American ambassador to register formal protest in this regard.

 

Parliamentary Secretary for Revenue Nazia Raheel while responding to a supplementary query by MPA Faiza Malik said that computerization of lands would be completed by June 30, 2016.

 

Provincial Food Minister Bilal Yaseen moved general discussion on procurement of wheat, during his speech he said that for the year 2016-17 wheat procurement target was set as 4 million metric tons.

 

He said the procurement was started from small farmers owing a land of  12.5 acres and during first five days of the procurement drive they were catered.

 

He said that number of gunny bags on per acre land was increased from 8 to 10 bags, adding that during current wheat procurement campaign about 3.7 to 3.8 million gunny bags were distributed and so far about 3.5 million gunny bags had been  received back.

 

The minister said that about 100,000 more farmers had been facilitated comparing previous year's wheat procurement drive.

 

The government also took steps to keep the market stable so that the farmers whose wheat was not procured by the department might get reasonable amount of their commodity in the market, he added.

 

Bilal Yaseen said that about 1400 complaints were received and all of them were attended.

 

Different members including Waqas Hassan Mokal, Ahmad Khan Bhachar, Rana Muhammad Arshad and others also took part in the debate and gave their recommendation besides highlighting problems relating to wheat procurement.

 

Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah while speaking on wheat procurement requested the Speaker to form a committee to inquire all highlighted problems by different members.

 

The problems were referred to agriculture committee which would present its report in this regard.
