Matric, FA Exams: New examination system under consideration in Pakistan

*ISLAMABAD:* Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has directed the Ministry of Education and Professional Training to form a central testing service to hold and regulate the matriculation and intermediate examinations.

According to a *media report <link>*, PM Abbasi proposed the need for such a testing body while chairing the Tuesday’s Council of Common Interests (CCI) *meeting <link>*, where chief ministers of the four provinces were present among others.

The premier expressed concerns over a great number of examination boards in the country, according to a council member. He suggested to centralise the secondary and higher secondary level examinations without which the standardisation of the education system is not possible.

“This sprawling trend of boards will harm the harmonisation in education in the country at the secondary and a higher secondary level,” the premier said.

He added, “We must have a uniform system of examinations in the country as already we have dozens of boards spread across the country.”

The PM asked Minister for Federal Education and Professional Trainings Balighur Rehman to make a proposal after consultation with all stakeholders in this regard. He directed him to work on a national level testing service which will hold and regulate the exams.
