ISLAMABAD: Pakistani imports rise to $41 billions

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani imports have risen to US $41 billion due to reduction in local production. Import bill of pulses have increased by 57%.
As per details, the import of pulses have reached to $ 41 billion in previous 8 months due to low production at local level in current season.
The prices of moong pulse and Bengal gram pulse have risen by Rs. 260 per kg and Rs. 120 per kg respectively in local market due to import of high-priced pulses.
On the other hand, the burden of foreign payments have also increased due to rise in import bill. The volume of pulses have reached to 6 lakhs 40 tons by increase of 53% from July-Feb fiscal year 2015-16.
