China says it will safeguard its fundamental interests in the face of protectionism.
Speaking at a briefing in Beijing on Monday, China's Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Zhang Jun said international community recognizes the harm from protectionism.
He said the world economy faces rising risks and the Group of 20 should ensure unity and cooperation.
Chinese President Xi Jinping is due to meet US President Donald Trump at the G20 summit in Japanese city of Osaka at the end of this week.
