Careem makes a big free offer for General Eections 2018

LAHORE – Careem, a UAE-based ride-hailing app operating in Pakistan, is offering voters free rides to and from polling stations across the South Asian country tomorrow (Wednesday).
The company has introduced a Jamhuriyat Car type that will be driven by ‘Captains’ who have volunteered their vehicles and time to transport voters to and from their polling stations on July 25.
The booking method will be the same as any other car type. The option will be available in Careem app tomorrow.
Careem emphasises that “volunteer drivers will not be compensated for any ride, either by Careem or by passengers”. “All volunteer drivers will go through our procedural background checks,” it adds.
The service is available in all cities where Careem operates, including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Peshawar, Hyderabad, Multan, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Quetta and Abbotabad.
Pakistan is all set to hold general elections tomorrow, with over 1,2000 candidates vying for 270 national and 570 provincial assembly seats.
As many as 105.96 million people will be able to use their right to vote. Twenty-three percent of the total voters would be taking part in the exercise for the first time.
Polling will start at 8:00am and will run till 6:00pm.
