Tayyaba torture case accused Judge granted bail

Additional District and Sessions Judge Raja Asif Mehmood granted interim bail to his fellow judge Raja Khurram Ali Khan, who has now been made an OSD, against surety bonds of Rs30,000.
The same judge had also granted bail to Khan’s wife Maheen Zafar. The court will decide on the judge’s bail application on January 26.
Khan and his wife were booked by the Industrial Area police on December 29, 2016 after the 10-year-old victim accused them of keeping her in wrongful confinement, burning her hand, beating her with a ladle, detaining her in a storeroom, and threatening her.
The father of the victim ‘forgave’ the judge and his wife “in the name of God”. The Supreme Court, however, took suo motu notice in the case and overruled the pardon granted to the suspects by exercising its parental jurisdiction in the matter.
