PIA announces to suspend flight operations to the international route

KARACHI - Pakistan International Airlines Sunday announced to suspend its flight operation to and from China until March 15 due to the noval Coronavirus spread.

The fatal disease which first erupted in China in December last year has claimed 2441 lives so far while number of cases has surged to 78,000 in the country.

PIA spokesperson said that a decision about extending or ending the ban will be taken in March.

Two flight PK-852 and PK-853 were operated to and From Beijing via Tokyo.

The decision comes amid the spread of the deadly virus to another neighbouring country, Iran, where death toll rose to eight since the infection was reported on Wednesday this week.

Pakistan has closed its border with Iran, imposing a travel ban on netizens, including pilgrims, in order prevent the spread of the new virus.
