ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan Monday acquitted an accused of murder from the charges due to lack of evidence in the case.
A three members bench of SC headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa heard the case against the Mamoon Rasheed who was accused of killing two citizens including Zulifqar Ali and Abdul Qayyum in Jaranwala an area close to Faisalabad.
The counsel for the accused, Saddique Baloch argued that baseless first information report (FIR) was registered against his client regarding the incident.
The witnesses of the incident cited in FIR were false, he added.
He prayed the bench to set aside the verdict of Lahore High Court against his clients.
However, the Prosecutor in the case adopted the stance that the accused had allegedly killed two people in 2002 on a ground of old enmity. (APP)
