One soldier martyred, JCO injured in cross border attack from Afghanistan: ISPR

RAWALPINDI – One soldier embraced martyrdom and another sustained bulletinjuries in a militant attack along Pak-Afghan border in North Waziristan,the military’s media wing said on Sunday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), terroristsattempted fire raids on troops busy in fencing along the Pak-Afghan borderin the west of Gurbaz.

The martyred soldier was 29-year-old sepoy Niaz Ali from Mardandistrict. Junior commissioned officer was injured in the attack.

The attack comes a day after six terrorists killed and two army soldiersmartyred in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Ladha area ofKhyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s South Waziristan tribal district.

The raid triggered a heavy exchange of fire, ISPR said in a statement.“Nanakar, a high-value target responsible for attacks on local residentsand tribal elders, was among those died in today’s raid.”
