He has retired, but if he wants to play for Pakistan, the doors are open for everyone." The Chief Selector asked the players if they want to be a part of the national team, emphasizing the need for strong performances in domestic leagues. Inzamam-ul-Haq made it clear that neither the selection committee nor the cricket board closes the doors for any player.
He said, "If any player wants to represent Pakistan, they should perform in first-class cricket. If they perform well, they will be considered for selection, including Mohammad Amir."
This statement by the Chief Selector was made during his press conference in Lahore, where he announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Men's World Cup 2023. Fans on social media had speculated that since there have been changes in the PCB's top officials, Amir might be able to make a comeback to the team, but he was not included in the squad.
