Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir stressed the importance of education as a necessity, not an option, during his address at the annual convocation week of the National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST). The convocation week began at NUST's main campus in the federal capital on Monday.
In a press release shared by the Inter-Services Public Relations, General Munir was quoted as saying, "Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in students' lives, which signifies a significant change that entails greater responsibility." General Munir, who is also the chairman of NUST's board of governors, served as the chief guest at the inaugural 'Master Convocation Ceremony' and awarded medals to distinction holders.
Upon his arrival at NUST, the COAS was received by the NUST rector. The military's media wing stated that bachelor's, master's, and PhD degrees were conferred to over 3,500 graduates from all NUST schools at the main campus in various core disciplines during the convocation week.
During his address, General Munir congratulated the graduates, their parents, and the faculty. He commended NUST for creating an environment conducive to teaching and learning, one that nurtures brilliant minds prepared to serve the nation.
General Munir emphasized that the newfound responsibility should be reflected in the graduates' personalities and choices as they embark on their future journeys. He stated, "It is now their duty to identify and analyze the challenges facing the country and use their intellectual resourcefulness to find solutions."
