LAHORE,Oct 23 (APP): Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif here on Sunday.
Matters of mutual interest and political situation of
the country were discussed during the meeting. Both the
leaders termed the threat to shut down Islamabad undemocratic
and unconstitutional.
Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said
shutting down the federal capital was an enmity with
Pakistan and its 180 million people. There was no political
and moral justification to protest on roads after the acceptance
of the opposition's petition regarding the Panama leaks by the
Supreme Court.
Holding protests after starting of the hearing by the
court was aimed at influencing the court, he added.
He said PTI chief Imran Khan should not take revenge of his
repeated defeats from the people. No conscientious Pakistani
would support such undemocratic and un-constitutional steps.
Imran should have pity on the nation and adopt a positive
democratic attitude, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said those
intending to shut down Islamabad wanted to stop a journey of
speedy progress. Those indulging in negative
politics were out to snatch joys of 180 million people by
impeding the CPEC. Those defeated elements were afraid of
end their politics with the completion of speedy development
projects, he added.
Federal Minister Akram Khan Durrani and Amir Jamiat
Ulema-e-Islam (F) Punjab Atiqur Rehman were also present.
