Government prosecutors in Karachi Safoora Bus attack refuses to follow case

KARACHI: Both Muhammad Khan Burero and Mubashir Mirza resigned from the respective case, in which 45 people belonging to the Ismaili community were massacred after gunmen boarded their bus in Safoora Goth, in May this year. Alleged financiers of Safoora bus attack to be grilled for 90 days. The home department had pledged to provide us with security along with a monthly fee of Rs1.5 million, each. However, not only did the department fail to provide us with security but also paid us a sum of Rs0.15 million only,the duo said while addressing the media. They regretted that their pleas for security and safe accommodation were not entertained. About their fee, the lawyers said that although it was a high-profile case a small amount of Rs150,000 each was released as their professional fees. This amount was usually paid to prosecutors representing the state against an accused in an illicit weapon case, they added. Earlier, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) informed an anti-terrorism court about the 90-day preventive detention of two suspects alleged to have financed the assailants who carried out the Safoora bus attack. Suspects identified as Salim and Suleman had provided financial assistance to the attackers and were also linked with them, the court heard.
