CPEC: 17 economic zones in KPK being  linked with CPEC route   

PESHAWAR: (APP) Khyber Pakthunkhwa Senior Minister Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao Wednesday appreciated the efforts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zone Development and Management Company( KPEZDMC) for their hectic efforts to boost-up Industrialization activities in the province.

He asked the authorities to ensure the inclusion of future challenges, interest of overseas Pakistanis investors and utilization of our man-power resources in their planning for industrial revolution, being the major requirement for the uplift of the people.

Presiding over a high-level meeting of KPEZDMC here, Sikandar Sherpao said one of the existing world best irrigation canal system of this province and the small dams building here should also be considered for micro and semi-micro power generation projects, besides the agricultural products and the hard working manpower of the province for future planning.

The meeting which was also attended by Special Assistant to CM KP on Industries and Commerce, Abdul Karim, thoroughly discussed the 17 Industrial Economic Zones, being established in Khyber Pakthunkhwa and after detailed consideration value added suggestions were included in the master plan aiming to cover the future challenges and ensure the rapid development of the whole region.

The meeting was told that 17 Industrial Economic Zones are being established in the different parts of the entire province with an estimated cost of Rs.32.905 billion and all are linked to the main route of CPEC.

It was also planned that the major requirements for these industrial zones like electricity, natural gas etc: are being provided locally. For this purpose, on the basis of a detailed calculated survey sites for hydle power and other facilities are identified, where 30,000 Mega Watt electricity, 1.1 billion barrel crude oil and 16 trillion qubic feet natural gas would be extracted for these zones.

The meeting was informed that each Industrial Zone was specified for such industries that have the availability of raw material locally. The plan also included training for the local youth, to be employed in the relevant industries and educational plan for the children of the local area.

The Chinese experts on CPEC have keen interest in the industrial development of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and investors from national and international communities are regularly contacting the authorities of KPEZDMC to get early chance for their investment here.
