ISLAMABAD - legendary South African batsman AB de Villiers called it a day from all forms of international cricket.

De Villiers bows out of international cricket as one of the greatest players to have represented South Africa, having played 114 Tests, 228 One-Day Internationals (ODI) and 78 T20 Internationals.

The 34-year-old says ‘the time is right’ for him to hang up his boots, bringing a close to a sterling 14-year career.

“I have decided to retire from all international cricket with immediate effect,” he said on Wednesday. “After 114 Test matches, 228 ODI’s and 78 T20 Internationals, it is time for others to take over. I have had my turn, and to be honest, I am tired.

*Fastest ODI half century:* ABD holds the record for the fastest half century in ODIs in just 16 balls

*Fastest ODI century: *He has scored the fastest century of just 31 balls.

*Fastest ODI 150:* De Villiers scored 162 runs off 66 balls in a match against the West Indies in Pool B of 2015 Cricket World Cup. With this feat, he became the record holder for the fastest 50, 100 and 150 in One-Day International history.

*Second highest Test score for South Africa:* His unbeaten 278 was the highest score for South Africa until Hashim Amla broke the record.

*Second highest Test run-scorer for SA:* He is behind behind Jacques Kallis with 9577 runs at an average of 53.50.

*Fastest T20 half century for SA: *On 21 February 2016, de Villiers scored the fastest T20 fifty by a South African in just 21 balls. He completed the innings with 79 runs in 29 balls and led South Africa to a clean sweep in T20 series.
