Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar announced on Wednesday that Pakistan reported no Covid-related deaths in the last 24 hours for the first time in two years since the outbreak of the virus.
The minister took to Twitter and said, “Alhamdulillah no covid related deaths reported in the country in the last 24 hours. This is the first time in 2 years that this has happened.”
Last week, the country lifted all corona-related restrictions in view of the continuous declining trend of the disease in the country.
Briefing media persons along with Special Assistant on National Health Services Dr Faisal Sultan in Islamabad, Umar had said restrictions such as those on indoor and outdoor dining, wedding halls, markets and religious gatherings were being done away with.
He, however, had said the condition of vaccination for the air travellers would stay in place.
Umar had claimed the decision of lifting the restrictions was aimed at reviving normalcy in people’s life. He, however, did clarify the pandemic was not over.
