Thana Culture: Punjab police and IT Technology innovation

Lahore: (APP) Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif Wednesday appreciated the performance of Punjab police regarding utilization of information technology for reforms in police system and change of thana culture and termed it a historical achievement.

The Chief Minister expressed these remarks during a high level meeting held here.

He said that decision of setting up front desks was a commendable steps which would not only improve efficiency of police and raise its image but problems of common man would also be resolved.

He said that monitoring and interest taken by senior officers was of paramount importance for running this system.

He said it was appreciable that front desks had been set up in more than 200 police stations of 12 districts while this project would be completed up to December this year in other police stations.

He said that Punjab police had taken a lead in adopting information technology and it was satisfactory that particulars of 150,000 officers and officials of police force had been computerized and now the service record of officers and officials would be available at the time of their posting and transfer and all the particulars would be available at pressing of a button.

Shebaz Sharif gave 'Shabash' to Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan, Inspector General Police Mushtaq Sukhera, CCPO Capt. (R) Amin Wains, DIG Operations Dr. Haider Ashraf, AIG Finance Habib Imtiaz and other concerned police officers and said that positive changes would be brought in police system by working with this spirit and steps taken for change of thana culture .

He thanked Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board Dr. Umer Saif for his help in use of information technology in the Police department.
