IHC orders FIA to proceed inquiry against BISP official in corruption scam

ISLAMABAD:The Islamabad High Court (IHC) withdrew its stay order on inquiry against an official of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) allegedly involved in embezzlement of Rs 22 millions in department.

The bench comprising Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani ordered Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to continue its investigation against District General Manager BISP Abida Pathan.

The counsel for BISP pleaded before the bench that all the looted money should be distributed among deserving people after recovery from the BISP official.
He contended that the accused had shifted the money of BISP cards worth Rs 22 million into her personal account. The department had received the complaints from the victims for not receiving the amount.

After hearing the arguments, the bench withdraw its stay order on inquiry against BISP official and gave FIA go ahead in its investigation process.
It may be mentioned here that the IHC had stayed the FIA inquiry against Pathan in 2014 on her plea.

APP
