Aisam ul Huq makes historic record for Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi continues to make the nation proud by excelling at the international professional tennis scene constantly.

In his latest achievement he has become the first Pakistani tennis player ever to reach the quarter final round in an Australian Open Grand Slam Tennis Championship, according to a message received here on Monday.

He along with his Polish partner Marcin Matkowski defeated the Brazilian and Philippino duo of Demoliner and Treat Huey in straight sets with a score of 7-6, 6-4.

In the second round they beat the strong built and exceptionally tall team of Sweden’s Robert Lindstedt and Croatia’s Franko Skugor with a matching score of 7-6, 6-4.

In pre-quarter final, they were to face the Moldovan and Korean duo of Albot and Chung, who opted not to come to court and thus Aisam and partner got a walk over to enter the quarter final, where they will face the world famous duo of Bryan brothers of USA.   There match will be played in the prestigious Rod Laver Arena at 5:00 am Pakistan time on Tuesday and live telecast on Sony Six Channel.
