Afghan Taliban kill, wound 15 soldiers in Helmand

LASHKARGAH: Seven policemen were killed and an eighth wounded after Taliban militants stormed their check posts in the Garamsir district of southern Helmand province, an official said Monday.

The security official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants attacked security check-posts in Chawghakai area late on Sunday night.

He said seven security men were killed and one more was wounded in the overnight assault.

Omar Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, confirmed the attack which he said was repulsed reinforcements arrived at the site.

On the other hand, Qari Yousaf Ahmaid, a Taliban’s spokesman, also the assault left eight policemen dead, five wounded and their nine weapons seized.
