Govt to extend equal chances of development across province: CM

RAJANPUR: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar Friday said that the government will extend equal chances of development to all parts of the province.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of Sehat Insaf Card in Seraiki at Rajanpur on Friday, the CM said that Rs 96,000 per person’s health had been spent in Lahore, while only Rs 4,000 were spent per head in Rajanpur district in the previous government’s tenure, adding that they would now spend equally on everyone.
Buzdar said that the government was determined to develop south Punjab.
Announcing health initiatives for the district, he said that they would make Rajanpur a model district as far as provision of health facilities were concerned.
He said that a mother and child healthcare hospital would be built in the district soon.
The district needed a university, Sui gas facility besides recruitment of police and Border Military Police (BMP), he said and added that he would visit the district again to resolve all issues with the consultation of local leadership.
He said that Rajanpur was a gateway of Punjab, adding that he welcomes the prime minister on the soil of Sufi saint Khawaja Ghulam Fareed.
He thanked the PM for choosing top slot of the province from this region.
Buzdar said that he was the chief executive of the province but the DG Khan and Rajanpur were most deprived districts across Punjab.
He demanded the prime minister that Kashmore-Dera Ismail Khan Road should be dualized on priority basis.
Earlier, Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid said that eight lakh Sehat Cards would be distributed among the needy and poor people in the district.
She said that Prime Minister Imran Khan wanted distribution of Sehat Insaf Cards in 36 districts of Punjab, adding that about 7.2 million cards would be distributed and over 30 million people would benefit from it across the province.
She said that Sehat Card holders could get cardiac, neurology and other diseases treatment facilities at the hospitals under the scheme.
Dr Yasmin said that Rs 1,000 would also be given as fare to the card holders travelling from far-flung areas, while labourers will be given three days wages also.
She announced that 200-bed mother and child-care hospital would be built in Rajanpur at a cost of Rs 4 billion within two years.
On this occasion, Federal Minister for Health Amir Kiyani, PTI leaders Nasrullah Dareshak, Jaffer Leghari and other parliamentarians were also present.
