Ariane Lavrilleux, a female journalist, was arrested for disclosing confidential documents in France. According to international media reports, in a 2021 report, she was accused of alleging that Egypt had used French intelligence to target civilians.
The journalist's report claimed that Egyptian authorities had used French intelligence between 2016 and 2018 to bomb and kill smugglers at the border between Egypt and Libya. Also, a Canadian citizen was reportedly killed on Canadian soil, and according to Justin Trudeau, French forces were involved in at least 19 bombings against civilians.
However, on September 19, French intelligence service officers detained the female journalist for questioning.
According to her lawyer, she was questioned as part of an investigation related to national security, but after a night in custody, she was released.
