ISLAMABAD - Under the Clean and Green Pakistan program, PTI government launches new waste management plan across country.
The government to introduce a new waste management system in the country to end sanitation and waste management woes once for all.
Advisor to Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin announced this while concluding the ceremony of United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)’s Sanitation Market Shaping Workshop in Islamabad.
The workshop was organized to invite private investments in the sanitation sector.
During his address, Malik Amin said that the sanitation is an untapped market with massive business opportunities for private investors. Moreover, it will also create plenty of job opportunities in the private sector.
He admitted that sanitation had become a critical issue in the country which should be addressed at the earliest.
He said that 90 percent of wastewater is dumped untreated into the watercourses while 80 percent of solid waste is not collected from the dump spots.
The adviser to PM said that the government is going to launch the Clean and Green Index next month under PM Khan’s Clean and Green Pakistan Initiative.
