ISLAMABAD – China has said that Xinjiang is an autonomous region of the country and enjoys social stability, sound economic development and harmonious coexistence among ethnic groups.
A Chinese embassy official while referring to a recent meeting held between Ambassador Yao Jing and Dr. Noor-ul-Haq Qadri, Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony of Pakistan, on Wednesday, said both the dignitaries had a good discussion on China-Pakistan relations including the CPEC cooperation and some specific projects in Pakistan.
“The Chinese ambassador appreciated the efforts by the Pakistani Government to promote religious harmony, on which both the two sides had full consensus,” said the official.
Some local and international media, however, gave baseless and distorted reports about the meeting and China totally rejects them, he said, adding that Chinese Muslims enjoys social stability, sound economic development and harmonious coexistence among ethnic groups.
