NBP former President Syed Ali Raza arrested in Rs 18 billion corruption charges

KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) has rejected the bail plea of ex-President of National Bank Syed Ali Raza and seven accomplices ordering immediate arrest of the accused.
The alleged have been charged with embezzlement of Rs 18 bln in National Bank OF Pakistan (NBP) Bangladesh.
According to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor, the 2009 bank audit report had revealed the corruption case. Subsequently, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) governor had already highlighted the issue to the NBP authorities.
NAB officials were present outside the courtroom to arrest the accused.
