Muhammad Khalid Jamal, the recently appointed Pakistani Ambassador to Russia, highlighted this initiative, underscoring the importance of these flights in enhancing people-to-people connections and economic interactions.
Ambassador Jamal expressed optimism that reinstating direct air services would bring the two nations closer, fostering increased trade. Recognizing economic considerations, he acknowledged the necessity for airlines to assess the profitability of these routes.
Despite past disruptions, the ambassador remained hopeful about a surge in tourism, citing improved security in Pakistan as a key factor attracting Russian tourists. Emphasizing Pakistan's dedication to enhancing its tourism sector, he highlighted the country's safety and government efforts.
Additionally, Pakistan's application to join BRICS is underway, with expectations of Russian support by 2024, and recent discussions in Islamabad between the two countries centered on addressing international terrorism and security challenges.
