Pakistan, Malaysia vows to strengthen bilateral economic ties

Pakistan has shown keen interest in greater collaboration with Malaysia in its high-tech industry, learning from its experiences in fighting corruption and ways to achieve economic success.

This has been stated in a statement issued by Foreign Office after meeting between Prime Minister Imran Khan and his Malaysian counterpart Dr. Mahatir Mohammad in Putrajaya.

The statement said the two leaders expressed satisfaction over their talks that covered a wide range of bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interests.

Both countries also agreed to further bolster cooperation in diverse fields, including trade, economy, tourism, defense, agri products, energy, telecommunication, science and technology.

Both Leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen the partnership, which meets the interests of both countries.

 They welcomed the establishment of Bilateral Consultation that will convene its first meeting in Islamabad next year.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to collaborate more closely on issues affecting the Muslim world, including taking joint efforts in underscoring Muslim sensitivities in attacking Muslim holy personalities and religious belief.

Prime Minister Imran Khan also briefed his Malaysian counterpart on grave human rights situation in occupied Kashmir.

Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad reiterated Malaysia's commitment to assist Pakistan in addressing its energy shortfall.

Imran Khan also extended an invitation to Dr. Mahathir Mohamad to undertake a visit to Pakistan which was accepted with appreciation.
