The Syrian army says capital Damascus and its surroundings are fully secured as the troops cleared the last insurgent-held area around the capital of Islamic State fighters on Monday.
In a televised statement, the army high command said Damascus and its surroundings including villages are completely secure areas.
The high command said army would continue to fight “terrorism” across Syria.
Meanwhile, Islamic State militants have completed evacuation of fighters and civilians from Yarmuk.
The Syria Observatory for Human Rights say it was the last stronghold in the Syrian capital.
The Observatory said evacuation of the IS group is over, after 32 buses took 1,600 people including fighters and their relatives, out of southern Damascus.
