PM Imran Khan to play his Trump Card after OIC Conference: Report

Karachi: Sindh Governor Imran Ismail has said Prime Minister Imran Khan possesses a superb “trump card”, which he is going to use after the Organisation of Islamic Conference’s (OIC) session in Islamabad and the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will easily emerge triumphant in the ongoing crisis caused due to motion of no confidence filed against the PM. The Sindh Governor made the prediction to this effect while addressing a press conference, and he didn’t elaborate, Gulf News has reported.

Analysts believe the PM might make an announcement regarding the nomination of a new chief minister in Punjab to placate his disgruntled allies and renegade legislators, or make an announcement to hold early general elections before completion of his five-year term next year, or else he would make an announcement regarding the appointment of new army chief. The 48th session of Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC will be held in Islamabad on March 22 and 23.

“I want to convey through TV with complete surety that Prime Minister has a superb trump card as he will play this card right after the OIC conference to emerge triumphant from this no-confidence move hands down as he will come out of this issue as a more empowered Prime Minister,” said the Sindh Governor.

He said the PM was keeping his trump card close to his chest.

The Governor further predicted the dissident legislators of the ruling party would return and reaffirm their allegiance to the PM after he succeeds in the no-confidence move.

He said the people in the constituencies of the dissident legislators of the PTI will hold them accountable.

He praised the PM for not using the influence or power of the state or government’s machinery to compel any lawmaker to remain loyal to him during the no-confidence motion
