ISLAMABAD: (APP) A parliamentary body on Wednesday reviewed various sections of the proposed draft of the bill for the creation of National Accountability Commission (NAC) and agreed that the investigation agency would be tasked to complete the investigation into a case within 60 days.
The seventh meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on the National Accountability Law met here in the Parliament House under the chair of Law Minister Zahid Hamid.
The committee, which has already agreed to replace NAB with the NAC reviewed in detail various sections related to punishment for corruption, disqualification, voluntary return and cognizance of offences under the provisions of proposed accountability bill.
Talking to media after the meeting, the minister said that it had been agreed that after completing the investigations, the investigating agency would forward the reference to the NAC.
Chairman NAC will have the powers to decide whether to close a case or open it, he said.
He said the alleged individual would have the right to get bail. The next meeting of the committee will be held on April 12.
