6th Population Census 2017: Chief Census Commissioner updates first phase progress

ISLAMABAD: (APP) Chief Census Commissioner Asif Bajwa said on Wednesday the first phase of census 2017 that comprises of 63 districts will be completed in one month while the next phase will be started from April 25.

Talking to private news channel, commissioner said the especial codes have been assigned to disable persons and transgender in the form of census in order to identify the nature and cause of disability.

"In the 'sex' column of the census form, three codes were previously allotted: '1' was for male, '2' was for female and '3' was for transgender residents. On the orders of the Supreme Court, '4' for disabled man, '5' for disabled woman and '6' for disabled transgender person have been added to the code sequence", he added.

He said from March 28 the record of Homeless people will be collected.

Bajwa said the family number will be the same as per of NADRA records.

He explained two storey building would be given one house listing number but on eve of counting population if two separate families were residing, all would be counted. In case of multi-storey buildings then every flat will be included in house listing.

He said the stay at home women must keep the NIC of Head of the family with them and they can also answer about the general questions asked by the census staff.
