MOHALI: New Zealand crushes Pakistan by 22 runs to secure slot in Semis
MOHALI: New Zealand crushed Pakistan by 22 runs to become the first to secure a slot in World T20 Semis.

 

New Zealand has won 3 matches out of 3 in Group 2 which is a key to their success to qualify for the semi finals.

 

New Zealand team won the toss and decided to bat first and set a target of 181/5 in 20 overs.

 

While Pakistan could not chase the target and finished the game at 158 for 5.

 

Martin Guptill contributed 80 runs off 48 balls in the victory of New Zealand with ten fours and three sixes.

 

New Zealand skipper Kane Anderson scored 17 and dismissed by Muhammad Irfan. Ross Taylor scored 36 off 23 balls and Luke Ronchi could only score11.

 

Pakistan team took a good start with Sharjeel Khan’s batting who scored 47 off 25 balls with nine fours and one six.

 

Ahmed Shehzad scored 30, Kamran Akmal scored only 24.

 

Pakistan team scored only 14 runs in last three overs.

 

Recently Pakistan team was also defeated by Indian cricket team on March 19 at Eden Gardens Kolkata.
