Why Government allocated Funds for Haqqania Madrassa

PESHAWAR: (APP) Clarifying the purpose of allocating Rs. 300 million for Darul Uloom Haqqania Akora Khattak, the spokesman of KP Government Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani on Tuesday said that the move is aimed at bringing the religious seminaries into mainstream.

The KP government that drew flak from the civil society and the national press for allocating funds for Darul Uloom Haqqania Akora Khattak, felt the necessity to come out with a clarification for justification of the funding.

In an official press release issued here, he said that around three million students are enrolled in these seminaries where they are fed, sheltered and taken care of without any expense.

Ghani said PTI has the vision to streamline all sorts of education to convert into one education system thus bridging appalling disconnect between the government and the seminary system.

He said that major chunk of the fund would also be utilized for construction and repair of the building, adding that the provincial administration has sought to enhance monitoring and oversight of the religious seminaries which is not possible without catering to their needs and bridging disconnects.

It is worth mentioning that the provincial government is keen to enhance financial as well as technical assistance to religious schools in the province to bring them under the umbrella of provincial education regime and the step is the first in this direction.

Evolving universal education system is the aim of KP government, he said, which certainly is not possible by pushing hundreds of religious schools in the province towards isolation.
