Supreme Court suspends Ayyan’s arrest warrant

ISLAMABAD: (APP) The Supreme Court on Friday suspended non-bailable arrest warrant against model Ayyan Ali in customs inspector murder case.

The division bench of the court headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal heard the case and suspended the arrest warrant of currency-smuggling famed model Ayyan Ali in the murder case of Customs Inspector Ijaz Chaudhary.

During the course of proceedings, Ayyan's lawyer Latif Khosa has plaed in his petition that his client was in jail at the time of the murder of Customs Inspector Ijaz Chaudhary.

He also called arrest warrant a bureaucratic tactic against his client who he said has been harassed and stopped to fight the case intentionally.

Suspending Ayyan's arrest warrant the court issued notice to SHO of Warris Khan police station and adjourned the hearing till Monday.

Earlier, Chief Justice, Anwar Zaheer Jamali formed formed a two-member bench headed by Justice Ijaz Afzal to hear the case after filing of petition early in the morning.

Notices were issued to Interior Secretary and Station House Officer of the police station concerned among other parties in the murder case.
