In a first, Punjab government to setup Waste to Energy plants across the province

LAHORE - Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan has directed to immediately start Waste to Energy Projects in six major cities of Punjab and complete them within one year.

While presiding over a high level meeting in Lahore on Monday, Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan directed the Local Government Department to take initiative in this regard.

These cities include Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Sialkot while Islamabad will be added specially with Rawalpindi and Punjab Government will also gift one project to KPK Government for Peshawar.

He said these plants will replace dumping sites where garbage will produce electricity, gases and other usable products. He said that these Waste to Energy Projects will be part of Clean & Green Punjab campaign for which long term planning has been evolved.

He said that after these six cities other urban units will also be included in this project and Waste to Energy Projects will be carry forwarded to each district of Punjab.
