Division of Sindh as Independent State: SHC gives verdict over the petition

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has responded over the petition filed in the court for division of Sindh Province.

SHC rejected a petition seeking the division of Sindh province into seven independent states.

The court heard the petition filed by a citizen, Azmat Wali seeking the division of Sindh province into seven independent states. However, the court decided that the petition was not admissible.

The petitioner stated that the people of Sindh are facing immense problems. He said people are being killed in Karachi and there is an influence of feudal lords in rural areas of the province.

The court remarked that the matter of separate provinces is not related to fundamental rights.

The court asked the petitioner to tell one of the articles of the constitution through which new states could be formed in federal Pakistan.

The petitioner argued that provincial and federal governments have failed to fulfill their responsibilities and the province has witnessed devastation and its people have been badly affected.
