United Nations responds over the results of the Afghanistan Presidential election

KABUL - The United Nations has welcomed the announcement regarding the preliminary results of the presidential elections in Afghanistan.

In a statement issued in Kabul today, the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan said that Afghans braved security threats to cast their votes for a better future, and now, authorities and candidates must take the elections to its final stage.

Earlier, the head of Afghan Independent Election Commission, Hawa Alam Nuristani told reporters in Kabul today that Ashraf Ghani secured more than fifty percent votes while Abdullah Abdullah obtained over thirty-nine per cent votes.
