Foreign Minister reveals major obstacle in Pak-Afghan friendship

At the United Nations, Interim Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani expressed concern about the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) straining relations with Afghanistan.
He called on Afghanistan's current government to take tangible steps against this banned militant group. Speaking with TRT World during the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Jilani lamented that Pakistan continues to face attacks originating from Afghanistan.
He urged Afghanistan to honor its commitments in combating terrorism. Jilani pointed out that Afghanistan had previously pledged not to permit its soil for activities against other nations.
He emphasized that TTP attacks originating in Afghanistan remain a significant worry for Pakistan. While Pakistan desires stability and prosperity for Afghanistan, the presence of various terrorist groups, including TTP and ISIS-K, poses a complex challenge.
Furthermore, Jilani noted that these concerns extend beyond Pakistan, affecting regional countries as well. He mentioned that Pakistan engaged in dialogue with the interim Afghan Taliban government, emphasizing the need for them to fulfill their commitments not to allow Afghan territory to be used against other countries, as agreed upon with both Pakistan and the international community.
