Ayaan Ai Case: Supreme Court directions to SHC

ISLAMABAD: (APP) The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the Sindh High Court (SHC) to decide a petition filed by Ayyan Ali an accused of the currency smuggling case praying to remove her name from the Exit Control List (ECL) on October 3.

The three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali comprising Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Umar Ata Bandial heard the case filed by Ayyan Ali seeking removal her name from the ECL. The court also disposed of all the petitions filed by Ayyan Ali for the removal of her name from the ECL.

During the course of proceedings, Sardar Lateef Khan Khosa appeared before the court as counsel of Ayyan Ali and stated that his client's name was again included in the ECL after removal on court orders.

He said that his client was facing huge loss due to ban on travelling abroad. He said that the apex court had directed the SHC to decide the matter within 15 days but the SHC adjourned the case till October 3 on the previous hearing.

He said that there was no effective judicial system in the country as his client's name was added and removed from the ECL many times causing a huge financial loss to his client by not honouring business commitments abroad.
