PPP Senator Raza Rabbani, during a Senate session chaired by Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, called for President Arif Alvi's resignation over his statement on Palestine. Rabbani emphasized that the President's suggestion of a "one-state solution" contradicts Pakistan's longstanding position of supporting a two-state solution.
He urged the caretaker foreign minister to inform lawmakers about the government's actions following the president's statement and highlighted the escalating situation in Gaza, expressing concern over the passive stance of the Muslim world.
In response, caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani acknowledged the objection's validity, stating that the Presidency issued the statement without consulting the Foreign Ministry.
Jilani affirmed Pakistan's consistent stance on a two-state solution and mentioned that an explanatory statement was issued after the president's remarks, sent to the OIC Secretariat and the United Nations. The Senate session was adjourned until 10:30 am on Friday.
