Turkish, Russian defense Chiefs discuss Idlib, Syria

Turkey and Russia have discussed latest developments in opposition-held Idlib.

In a statement, Turkish Defense Ministry said Turkish National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar and his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu in telephonic contact have reviewed regional security issues, especially the latest developments in Syrian Idlib province and measures to be taken to reduce the tension in the area.

Last year, Turkey and Russia signed an agreement in Sochi to turn Idlib into a de-escalation zone in which acts of aggression would be expressly prohibited.
