IHC issues written order over Sharif family apeals

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday issued the written order of initial hearing conducted over the appeals of Sharif family against Avenfield verdict of the Accountability Court.

According to the details, IHC Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani and Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb have written the order of Sharif family appeals. The appeals former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Capt (r) Safdar have been accepted for regular hearing.

The court directed that next hearing of the appeals will be held after vacations in the last week of July before the available bench. The court has also issued notice to the National Accountability Court (NAB) and summoned record of Avenfield case.

Sharif’s counsel Khawaja Haris adopted stance that the accused have convicted against law.

“The stance of NAB in the case will also be heard along with the arguments of defence lawyer,” remarked the court.

Haris requested the court to grant bail to Nawaz Sharif until verdict on his appeal is announced. He told that all the three accused are ready to submit their surety bonds.

Earlier, Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Safdar were convicted and sentenced to prison in absentia for ten years, seven years and one year respectively, in Avenfield verdict.
