JUI-F Senator in Marvi Sirmed case granted bail

ISLAMABAD: (APP) Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Senator Hafiz Hamdullah's plea for pre-arrest bail in an intimidation and assault case was accepted by a session court of Islamabad on Wednesday.
Police registered First Information Report on June 14 against JUI-F senator for allegedly threatening and trying to assault Marvi Sirmed during a TV talk show on June 10.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Raja Asif Mehmood took up the senator's bail plea and rejected the request of Marvi Sirmed's lawyer to adjourn the hearing till August 24 as Marvi Sirmed is in Karachi.
Marvi was also not present in previous hearing and the Judge directed the lawyer to ask from trial court for time extension.
Subsequently, the court accepted the bail of Hamdullah on a surety bond of Rs 30,000 and ordered to contact areal magistrate for further proceeding.
