Kashmiri leaders health deteriorate in Indian Jails

ISLAMABAD - In occupied Kashmir, the Jamaat-e-Islami has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating health of many Kashmiri political prisoners lodged in different jails of the territory and India.

A JI spokesman in a statement in Srinagar said that the jail authorities were harassing the Kashmiri detainees and even relatives coming to see them were ill-treated. He said that under-trial prisoners were not timely presented before the courts. He maintained that delay in trial tantamount to denial of justice but all Kashmiri political detainees are facing this injustice at the hands of the authorities of prisons.

The spokesman appealed to the world human rights organizations to take cognizance of the inhuman treatment meted out to the Kashmiri prisoners and help in their release.
