KABU – Afghanistan MoI spokesman Danish Najib has revealed that Anticorruption investigation department had arrested 170 graft-taintedmilitary officers and introduced them to the attorneys.

“These officials include four generals, 98 officers, 52 sergeants and theremaining are civil servants at the ministry,” Danish said, Pajhwok newshas reported.

Police killed about 13, 600 militants, wounded 5, 900 and captured aliveanother 2, 100 in 5,500 joint and independent raids during the outgoingyear, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said on Tuesday.

In these raids, police defused 4, 200 landmines, captured 18, 00 differenttypes of weapons, 131 vehicles and 172 walkie-talkies and detained 27, 000people, said MoI spokesman Najib Danish.

He told reporters here that during the period police had detained ninesuicide bombers before reaching their targets.

In connection with 15500 crime incidents nationwide during the year, policedetained 22,000 people with another 3000 cases being investigated.

Police also confiscated 300 tones of drugs in more than 2700 operations anddetained 3100 people in connection with the seizures.

Those detained in connection with drugs included 50 women and eightforeigners. During the year, police destroyed 50 drug labs and 12 depotsand confiscated 217 weapons and 478 vehicles.
