Pakistan Cricket team top slot in danger yet again

In One Day International (ODI) cricket, the national team's ranking has once again become precarious. There have been continuous changes in the ODI rankings over the past month. Australia briefly claimed the top position, but Pakistan regained the number one spot shortly after.

Despite a disappointing performance in the Super Four round of the Asia Cup, Green Shirts reclaimed the top position due to their past positive results and other teams' poor performances.

If the Indian team had not suffered defeat at the hands of Bangladesh in the Super Four round, they would have secured the number one position instead of Babar Azam's side. This setback pushed the Blueshirts to the third spot while the Pakistani side moved to the second position. Despite becoming Asian champions by defeating Sri Lanka, Green Shirts had the opportunity to reach the top because Australia faced defeat at the hands of South Africa in the fifth ODI, resulting in a 2-3 series loss.

This loss dropped the Australian team to the third spot in the ODI rankings, with their points tally now at 113. Although Pakistan and India have a rating points tally of 115, Green Shirts occupy the top position due to decimal points.

India can reach the top position before the World Cup, but to achieve this goal, they will need to sweep the upcoming 3 ODI series against Australia, starting on September 22 in their own country
