The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has taken proactive measures to enhance flight safety within the country's airports by implementing a bird repellent system. PCAA officials have outlined their plan to deploy this system at key aviation hubs, including Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore airports, with the primary objective of mitigating the risks associated with bird strikes during aircraft operations.
In pursuit of this initiative, the aviation regulator has issued a call for Expression of Interest (EOI) from reputable firms and individuals with expertise in wildlife management, particularly in the context of airport environments. These selected parties will be responsible for conducting a comprehensive feasibility assessment to determine the practicality and effectiveness of implementing the bird repellent system.
Sources suggest that the official tendering process for this crucial project is scheduled to commence on September 28. Within the PCAA, there is a consensus that initiating this system at Lahore airport in the initial phase will mark a significant step towards reducing the frequency of bird strikes and enhancing overall aviation safety.
To address the specific threat posed by birds, the system will be strategically installed on both the primary and secondary runways of Karachi and Lahore airports, ensuring comprehensive coverage and protection against bird-related incidents. This comprehensive approach demonstrates the PCAA's commitment to maintaining the highest standards of aviation safety within Pakistan's airspace
