Billion tree tsunami campaign of KPK government expanded

PESHAWAR: (APP) Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak Tuesday directing expansion of billion tree tsunami to agricultural sector and said departments of forest and agriculture should mutually make an agreement to use each other equipments and services.

He was presiding over a meeting on Water Resource Management, Climate Changes and Billion Tree Tsunami here at Chief Minister House. Senior Minister, Sikandar Sherpao, Special Assistant to CM on Environment, Secretary Environment, Secretary Agriculture, Director General Farm Water Management and other concerned officials attended.
Chief Minister directed to grow firewood in different areas in addition to billion tree tsunami to preserve and conserve the natural forest. Tsunami project was meant for safe future and all available resources were being utilized in this direction, he added.

Pervez Khattak directed for airdrops of seeds in inaccessible and far-flung areas of the province. He also directed for scientific plantation and constant monitoring to get the desire results.
Chief Minister also directed to outsource plantation schemes on need basis as his government had set targets and was committed to get them. He said that this project was also a source of earning for the jobless and it gave equal chances of participation to youth and women and directed to meet all standard of justice and transparency in the drive.

He also directed to train people through a mass drive for forestation and keep vigil on it, use quality seeds in the drive and contribute efforts for the success.
Chief Minister said that his government introduced the nursery culture involving the whole community at different stages of forestation. Government had already made scientific management policy which was being used as a launching pad for making the tsunami drive a success, he maintained. The government was looking forward for a plantation lab in the province in order to ensure environment and soil friendly plantation in different parts of the province.
